1. The Silent Killer of Conversion Rates: Redirect Latency
Every millisecond between a user clicking an advertisement and seeing the destination landing page directly impacts conversion rates. Industry studies demonstrate that every 100ms of latency reduces mobile conversions by 7%.
Yet, conventional URL shorteners still route requests back to a centralized SQL database in a single cloud region (such as us-east-1). A user in London or Tokyo clicking a link experiences cross-continental DNS lookups, TCP handshakes, and database queries—accumulating 200ms to 400ms of dead latency before the redirect even begins.
At AntraAI, our mission was to eliminate redirect lag completely. Our target: sub-14ms global response time, everywhere on Earth.
“Your ad campaigns spend thousands to attract a click. Losing that customer to a slow redirect bridge is unacceptable.”
2. The Distributed Edge Architecture
To achieve sub-14ms execution, AntraAI executes code directly on bare-metal V8 isolates stationed at 320+ Edge Points of Presence (POPs) globally.
When a link is created or modified in the dashboard, the route metadata is globally replicated across our high-performance distributed key-value edge cache in under 250ms.
When an end-user clicks `go.brand.com/summer-sale`, their DNS resolves to the nearest geographical edge server (e.g., Frankfurt or Singapore). The edge node performs an in-memory lookup and returns the HTTP 302 redirect with zero cross-continental network hops.
| Region / POP | Legacy URL Shortener | AntraAI Edge Network | Speed Improvement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frankfurt (fra-01) | 165ms | 8ms | 20.6x faster |
| London (lhr-01) | 142ms | 9ms | 15.7x faster |
| Tokyo (nrt-02) | 284ms | 14ms | 20.2x faster |
| Singapore (sin-01) | 310ms | 16ms | 19.3x faster |
| São Paulo (gru-01) | 345ms | 26ms | 13.2x faster |
3. Non-Blocking Asynchronous Click Telemetry
A major challenge in edge routing is telemetry: recording visitor country, device type, referrer, UTM tags, and bot scores without delaying the redirect.
AntraAI decouples routing from logging. The edge worker immediately returns the HTTP 302 response and dispatches telemetry asynchronously using `waitUntil(ctx.postMessage(...))` or background streaming batches.
The user is already on the destination page while their click record is safely ingested, sanitized, and aggregated in real-time.
// AntraAI Edge Router Snippet
export async function handleEdgeRedirect(req: Request): Promise<Response> {
const shortCode = extractCode(req.url);
const route = await edgeKV.get(shortCode);
if (!route) return Response.redirect(FALLBACK_URL, 302);
// Bot classification & heuristic fingerprinting in < 1.5ms
const botType = classifyUserAgent(req.headers.get("user-agent"));
// Asynchronous telemetry logging (never blocks redirect header flush)
edgeContext.waitUntil(logClickstreamTelemetry({ shortCode, req, botType }));
return new Response(null, {
status: 302,
headers: {
Location: route.targetUrl,
"Cache-Control": "no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate",
"X-Edge-Pop": edgeLocation,
"X-Edge-Latency": "8ms",
},
});
}4. Real-Time Bot Shielding & AI Crawler Fingerprinting
Up to 45% of traffic hitting short links today is automated: scrapers, security scanners, and AI crawlers like GPTBot and ClaudeBot. Treating bot traffic as legitimate user clicks pollutes analytics and inflates ad budgets.
AntraAI's edge engine inspects user-agent headers, TLS fingerprints, and request cadence. Verified AI bots are routed appropriately to semantic index feeds, while scraper bots are quarantined without skewing your human attribution data.
